The Blue Elephant Book Series
The Blue Elephant Series is comprised of five books, the original book and one each that further develops the themes of what it means for girls to be beautiful, talented, brave and strong. A description of each is provided below along with the working title. They are due to be released over the next few years.
A Beautiful Blue Elephant Day
In the second book in the series the blue elephant, her father, and the little girl discover beauty in several ways (butterflies, water showers, sunsets, and stars). Through their playful interactions the blue elephant and her father show the little girl the true meaning of beauty, which reaches well beyond how you look and how you dress.
Discovering My Blue Elephant Talents (working title)
In the third book the little girl struggles with being able to do certain things well. She is at that tender age when all children want to be more proficient and generally better at things. Working together her father and the blue elephant help the little girl realize that she has many wonderful talents that are not always obvious to her. For example, she often makes her father laugh and smile.
Being Brave with the Blue Elephant (working title)
In the fourth book the little girl learns to come to terms with her fears. With the help of the blue elephant and her father the little girl successfully addresses several fears and in the end conquers her greatest fear— sleeping without the lights.
Strong Like the Blue Elephant (working title)
In the fifth and final book the little girl confronts the social challenges of youth (e.g., being excluded, teasing). With the assistance and guidance of the blue elephant and her father she learns how to be strong in a variety of social contexts.
